Wishing you, your family and friends a happy and healthy Christmas… we look forward to reconnecting with you in 2021.
In the meantime, here are some of our favourite 2020 holiday events happening in Coogee and the surrounding areas…

You won’t miss the GIANT advent calendar at Maroubra Beach as we count down the days to Christmas.
If you know a local community member who has gone above and beyond or done something nice or helpful during the COVID pandemic this is an opportunity to give back and say thank you by nominating them for their act of kindness.
A winner will be announced each day for 24 days in the lead up to Christmas and be showcased on council’s website plus receive a prize donated from our wonderful and supportive local businesses. The giant advent calendar at Maroubra Beach will count down the days to Christmas. If you’re lucky you might also be given a chocolate or two.
Santa’s elves have some time off from their busy duties assisting Santa on the North Pole and they will be popping up in different locations around Randwick City. If you see them out and about go and say hello and ask them for a physically distanced photo. And don’t forget to upload to Instagram or Facebook and tag @RandwickCityCouncil and#ChristmasInRandwickCity
Decorative Tree Wraps
Discover a Christmas wonderland of wrapped trees around Randwick City.
We are decorating our trees across the community by wrapping their trunks with a fabric wrap that features our Christmas artwork. The specially selected trees have been carefully picked in consultation with our Nursery team. The special recycled fabric will not harm the tree, allows the tree to breathe and provides some protection. The fabric will also be re-used in many years to come!
The Christmas tree wraps will be on exhibition until Christmas.
Look out for pop up installations around the city. Some of the installations will include:
- Christmas Candy Cane decorations
- Giant Christmas trees
- Illuminated Santa
- ‘Happy Summer Giant Ice Cream’ interactive installation
- Pine tree lighting
- ‘Give Your Dog a Christmas Bone’ Interactive installation for pets
Food truck pop-up
Randwick Council is organising a Christmas Eat, Drink, Play Food pop-up weekend of food trucks to be available at Barwon Park on:
* Thursday 17 December 4pm to 10pm
* Friday 18 to Sunday 20 December from 12 noon to 10pm
Join the fun for tasty meals and support our local foodies by participating in the Christmas Eat, Drink, Play at Barwon Park, Matraville. There will be a variety of different vendors selling savoury and sweet treats, so keep an eye on your favourite food truck’s social media pages for their hours and days of operation.
Due to Covid the annual Coogee Carols event will be online this year!
Watch it in the comfort of your own home. Get the whole family or some friends together, a bowl of popcorn and sing along to some of our crowd favourite carols with our much loved local carols performers.

The Coogee Carols will be back in 2021 for its 20 year anniversary.
New Years Eve
The iconic Coogee Carols and Coogee Sparkles NYE fireworks events will not proceed this year after Randwick Council made the tough decision to cancel the events to protect the health and wellbeing of the community.
The matter was debated at the Council’s Meeting in October where Council resolved instead to deliver a bolstered program of Christmas activations across Randwick City’s town centres and beaches.
Instead of the usual NYE fireworks and carols, Council will deliver an expanded program of Christmas activities designed to bring joy, festive cheer and hope in a COVID-safe way for the whole family.
Coogee Real Estate Christmas Hours
